Hi all,
Why don’t you promote the correct netcodes for your server 8-) ?? This massively changes the game play (yess it does!). Admins never mention this to players also, a simple “how to” on the forum would be helpful. Aware there is an old thread that is very buried in here somewhere but that’s not good enough. Also maybe instead of a photo of trump when game loads you can mention people should use correct netcodes? He’s almost gone from the whitehouse (thankfully) so maybe you can use a photo of Biden instead lol.

Can you reset your stats? I started on a Mac and well let’s just say playing on windows through bootcamp is a different game...

am I right you 're talking about rates of cl_cmdrate , cl_upderrate & rate ....?
These rates are depended of your ping and provider most of time. This is why it's pretty difficult to give out some exactly rates for all of you.

Next is just a tip. This is how i 'm playing on our servers:
cl_interp_ratio 2
cl_cmdrate 66
cl_updaterate "66
rate 187500

Hi Honey Mom,
That’s right, but thought cl ratio should be 1? Bino answered this here: viewtopic.php?t=3832

From what I’ve read they are applicable to 98% of users today (using European connection standards) also they massively impact game play -the wrong settings make it harder to shoot people - my guess is also is that this is why machine guns on some players act strange (more on the internet on that too).

For perspective I changed my rates to one bino mentioned and it was night and day, and I only did it as Onib was complaining I was cheating lol. Snowmilk tried it too and he’s already playing better lol.

Would definitely make this more public.

Our rates which we configured at the moment - do you have the feeling of a wrong configuration?
I guess the servers performance is very good and balanced.
Besides ... can’t hear much appeals of other gamers ;)

So what is the correct cl_ interp_ratio 2 or 1 as bino posted? It makes a difference, and most the other players (including me) don’t know about it. Onib told me about it and it made a big difference, it’s obvious players who have wrong settings as harder to kill them. Minimal effort seems to be the norm on this server, I get it ;).

I know you guys don’t believe in Netcodes so decided to paste some external blogs on it, if you can find blogs that say otherwise would love to see also. Really not trying to be annoying here but it made a huge difference for me and others who have changed to settings shared by bino.

Also, as many people don’t know how to set netcodes I am pasting below a little tutorial:

1- First make sure developer console can appear by following these instructions:

Start CS:S
Click Options in the main menu screen.
From there, click Advanced
Tick the checkbox next to Enable Developer Console (~)
Click "OK" on all of the screens.
Press the "~" key and the developer console should appear


2-Then one by one paste in the below lines without types, you wont get any confirmation but settings will be changed. You also should not be connected to a server when doing.

rate 1048576
- cl_cmdrate 66
- cl_updaterate 66
- cl_interp_ratio 1
- cl_interp 0

And that’s it, a much smoother game play in my opinion (and many others on the web).
