How to fix problem with lagging

I've been playing on the 4played server(s) for years and I enjoy them even though I've experienced some lag sometimes. For the past 6 months at least, the server lags to an extent that it was not lagging before. I've adapted my gameplay quite a lot to adjust to the lag, so I try to shoot without moving, make longer pauses between shots etc. But sometimes even these workarounds do not work, i find myself shooting directly towards an opponent's head and the bullet just doesn't get there. My usual ping is around 60 which is pretty normal.

I don't know what kind of infrastructure the servers are using, but my question is, what would be the cost of improving the infra of the servers to try and improve the gameplay? The game itself is quite old so it's not very demanding hardware wise, but of course a server needs to have different specs to be able to support multiple players playing at the same time.
For example, if some players donated, could we gather the required amount maybe to bump up the performance of the servers?
I could donate for sure, even up to 100 EUR maybe more depending on what the total cost is - or if it's almost certain that the performance will be improved. As I said I really enjoy this server (even though camping being allowed kills the gameplay quite often) and I play on it for years and I'd like to help (if possible) to improve the experience for myself, and ofc for other players.
